First, a little background... KERFMUSIC is not a file sharing service. Nor will we submit your music to other outlets around the world. KERFMUSIC is a "stand alone" service and we sell your music directly to the music aficionado. Our members are based in Canada and the United States. We are a 100% legal business.
BUT I'M ON CDBaby? That's cool. We are fine with CDBaby and there is nothing wrong with selling your music through their services. KERFMUSIC is not affiliated with any other music outlet and it's perfectly OK to use both services. By joining KERFMUSIC you are not stepping on anybody's toes.
SO HOW DO YOU PAY THE ARTISTS? Essentially, you have two options. You get paid either quarterly if you have a paypal account, or you get paid when your sales reach a certain amount. At that point, we cut you a cheque.
IS THERE A CONTRACT INVOLVED? Yes, there is. But don't worry, you're not selling your soul to the devil here. You maintain the rights and control over your music. The contract outlines some administrative stuff, the royalty split, payment options, term, etc. We just want to make sure that we are both on the same wave length.
OK. SO HOW DO I JOIN KERFMUSIC? It's easy. Just email Luka Symons (also of CKUA fame) and she will be more than happy to send you the appropriate information and answer any questions you may have about joining KERFMUSIC. From the time we receive your CD (you must submit a CD(s) to get your music posted), it takes about 10 to 14 days to get it up on our website. It's quick, and free.
