This is a first record from a gal hailing originally from Regina, Saskatchewan. A girl who grew up on the prairies, with time spent riding horses and hanging with friends and siblings out on the farm. You get a sense that this is a woman who loves to sing, and when you go searching for the tale of the girl behind the songs, you read that this is a relatively new endeavour, well the public side of making music at least.
Juanita started playing live to an audience back in January of 2007 at an open mic about her new hometown, Calgary. A mere year later, along comes a fully fleshed out debut album with some beautiful prairie songs, loaded with great instrumentation and accompaniment from some local roots music stalwarts about town. This is a woman storyteller raised on Patsy Cline, Indigo Girls and Dolly Parton who's been concealing this joy of singing and performing, deciding to release it at just the right time. Lucky us, Juanita has joined KERFMUSIC, and so make your way to her page to add her new album to your music collection!
